Neil was a mature student at Strathclyde University, studying art

after retiring from an illustrious career as an Engineer. This influenced much of his early work, winning awards for his architectural paintings. He went onto expand his portfolio into

portraiture works, mainly on private commission.

Neil's studio is in Bothwell and his landscape pieces reflect many of Bothewell's historic areas. He has developed a unique style of

painting flowers and these pieces are highly sought after.. However military pieces like this one that featured in the Daily Record are his favourite subjects.
